Cooperation betweech Phonetics and Computational Statistics
09.11.2009
In the laboratory course of Computational Statistics, the real data at the Institute of Phonetics and Speech Processing are analysed. It will be interesting to know which results statisticians come to when they work on large empirical speech databases using state-of-the-art procedures like data-mining and classification. In practical terms, the course will try to statistically classify dialects and alcohol intoxicated speech. This poses a challenge especially to students of statistics, who normally dealing with static data to a large extent, will be faced with speech as a dynamic process.
